MORE THAN A DOLL – WHAT A MAPLELEA DOLL TEACHES YOUNG GIRLS

My daughter never had any interest in dolls. The first doll she showed any interest in was a $1, naked baby doll from a garage sale when she was 1 year old. That was the last doll she showed any interest in…. until now.

At the age of 9, my daughter started talking about wanting a doll. At first I discouraged her, thinking that she was too old to start playing with dolls. But after talking with some of my friends with daughters around the same age, I was assured that this was actually quite typical of girls entering their tween years.

But can a doll really TEACH young girls anything? I think so and Maplelea dolls are perfect for this!

FIRST A LITTLE BACKGROUND ON MAPLELEA:

Maplelea dolls were created to be positive role models that encourage Canadian kids to lead healthy, active lives and to know about their country’s culture and heritage. These 18” dolls are perfect for girls ages 6-12+.

CANADIAN HISTORY

As mentioned, Maplelea dolls can help girls learn about Canada and all the different cultures that exist in our country. Maybe your daughter is interested in learning more about Quebec, Iqaluit or the West Coast. Each Maplelea doll comes with a journal depicting the part of Canada the doll calls home. This is a great way for young girls to learn about Canadian geography in a fun way!

OWNERSHIP + GENTLENESS

When my daughter received her Maplelea doll, she was VERY diligent in reading the special care instructions. Knowing which things would damage the doll and how to specifically care for her doll’s special hair, my daughter has treated her Maplelea doll like gold. My daughter commented to me just the other day, that because of the care she has given her doll, she would feel more comfortable when it came time to babysit young children.

IMAGINATION

No matter which Maplelea doll your daughter chooses, she will be able to tap into her creativity. Developing a relationship with her doll, girls will be able to imagine them and their doll on adventures and living life together. And of course, playing dress up and changing the doll into one of the many great outfits will keep your child and doll on adventures for hours!

My daughter, spent hours trying to figure out the best doll for her. None of the Maplelea dolls from specific regions really captured her heart, and so she chose a Maplelea Friend. Here she was able to look at all the dolls and pick one that looks a lot like her!

The great thing about a Maplelea Friend, is that the 64 page journal with questions, prompts and blanks for her to create the doll’s story herself. My daughter was able to use her imagination to create her doll’s name – AMELIA – and all her favorite activities.

I really enjoy it when the kids come up with something that they want which they showed no real interest in before, especially if it isn't something that everyone else is doing.

I like that it's Canadian and has lots to learn with it.

I think it is so wonderful. She does look like her. I was looking at them Andy I like the friends too. I found one that's looks like my granddaughter she is too young yet but it's something I will keep on my list.
