With the Back-to-School season comes routine. With routine often comes the kids’ activities such as hockey, drama, dance, art etc. Our kids attend activities twice a week each. My son is in gymnastics, his first year being on the competitive side, twice a week and my daughter is taking drama and cooking at our local arts council. Because of these evenings being filled up, it can be hard to fit in quality family time.
Why not make a weekly family game night a time to reconnect and enjoy each other’s company?
Mattel has great game choices for these evenings. UNO, has been changed a few times in it’s history. But the original game of UNO is perfect for young children.
Big Picture Apples to Apples is a newer game that is also perfect for the whole family. It’s still as easy as comparing “apples to apples”; players just select the picture card from their hand that they think is most like a green card played by the judge. The player whose card is picked by the judge wins an Apple Chip. First player to collect five chips wins the game.
One of our new family favorites is Pictionary. At first we thought it would be difficult for our 7 year old and 9 year old to play together with us adults, but it soon became apparent that the children were not the ones having trouble keeping up! Pictionary has provided lots of laughs and fun during our game night evenings.
Add a favorite snack and/or drink and you’ve got the perfect family game night!
