How to make Spaghetti Squash

When our family began our healthy living I had heard of Spaghetti Squash but I really did not know how to make spaghetti squash. Now it is a regular part of our family dinners.

It’s actually pretty simple to make spaghetti squash.

Spaghetti Squash

  • 1 spaghetti squash
  • 3 Tbsp coconut oil (or butter)
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 2 Tbsp onion powder
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)

Cut your spaghetti squash in half lengthwise.

Spoon out the the seeds and discard the seeds.

Place the 2 halves flesh side up and place 1 1/2 tbsp of coconut oil in each of the cavities (you may substitute butter if you are not omitting dairy).

Sprinkle with 1 tsp of sea salt each and 1 tbsp of onion powder each.  Place 1 clove of garlic in each cavity (or more depending on desired flavor).

Place in a 350 pre-heated oven for 1 hour.  Once cooked, remove outer shell from the flesh using a spoon. Then tear the flesh with a fork, similar to how you would make pulled pork.  Season with more salt if desired and enjoy.

It’s really that easy – it’s so delicious on it’s own, but you can also serve it with any sauces you would normally like on regular spaghetti.

PALEO MEATBALLS

(Note: if you are wanting to know how I made these paleo meatballs, here you go…. Mix well 2 lbs ground beef, 1/4 cup almond flour, 2 tsp onion powder, 2 tsp garlic powder and salt to taste.  Mix well and form into 1 inch balls.  Fry till cooked and enjoy).

You can find my other recipes here (Note, old recipes are from the way I ate before changing my lifestyle and some newer recipes are not paleo, but they are healthy recipes that my daughters or husband enjoy).

Yes we eat this a lot in the fall. I love spaghetti squash. It's one of the few redeeming things about the fall season.
