You have to SEE it to BELIEVE it.

Last week I told you that we are in the middle of renovations. I shared with you my concerns about what to post each week.
This week I decided I would show you exactly what I’m living in….

Our house was built in 1923. We bought the house two and a half years ago from my grandparents. My grandparents had lived in the house for 38 years.
Here we started to rip out the flooring…

and more…

and more…

and more…

then another layer….

this is what was under it…. too bad we can not save the original hardwood as too many walls had been taken out and there would need to be a lot of repair.

I wont miss this old light or the grandma curtains…

our furniture is crowded into the sunroom for the time

The following 2 pictures are old pictures from last summer when we had the Montessori area in the same room!

Ok, now back to this week. We made sure to stop to have fun

Playing Candy Land as a family is one of our favorite games!

I also got a bit crazy with the face paint – Our dear daughter no longer wants to be a doctor when she grows up, she now says she wants to be a super hero and save the world LOL (Pretty funny since our girls do not watch TV – when I asked her why she wanted to be a super hero she said because her friend, a boy, wanted to be a super hero when he grew up…oh the influence of other children – it sure starts from a young age!)

I also set up a little area for play. Our younger daughter (27 months) played with the doll house and Beleduc body puzzle every day this week.

Oh old floor, I won’t miss you at all!!!

So that is a peak at our week. The girls have been really helpful this week. They are sure getting in a lot of practical life activities.

This next week the plan is to remove all the old cupboards. I think preparing food will be a challenge for the next while. I’d say we would eat out, but with this being the month that I can’t eat any yeast, sugar, dairy or caffeine – it may prove to be difficult LOL.

Tomorrow at noon is the last day to get votes in for the Canadian Blog Awards 2010.

wow-I am impressed! Even with all that "mess" around your place still looks so clean and organized! Your daughter probably wants to be a superhero less because her friend does and more because she sees her mom be one every day :)

That face-paint is so adorable. It looks like a spider-woman! Hehe. You drew it yourself?
