WAYS TO MANAGE HOLIDAY STRESS

The holidays are meant to be a joyous and happy occasion.

One spent with friends and family, gathering around a tree and enjoying each other’s company combined with hot chocolate and holiday music.

While this is a possibility, many people find themselves consumed with stress over the holiday season.

WAYS TO MANAGE HOLIDAY STRESS

The good news is that there are several ways to manage the holiday stress this year, resulting in that joyous and happy occasion you have been craving all year long.

SET A BUDGET

One of the biggest worries around the holidays is finances.

While many people wish to shower their loved ones with lavish, expensive gifts, that is just not realistic for some.

Make sure that you take the time to set a budget.

Knowing what you must spend, and accepting it, will keep your finances in check and reduce your stress.

FIT IN TIME FOR EXERCISE

Over the holidays it can be easy to neglect our self-care routines.

It is important to maintain some semblance of normalcy and continue taking care of yourself.

Make sure to set aside some time to fit in exercise, even if it is bundling up and getting outside for a walk.

Not only is it good for your body, but it is also good for your mind.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Overloading yourself with tasks, parties, and shopping will only make your stress worse.

Keep the holidays simple this year.

Only participate in the get-togethers that you truly want to and say no to the rest.

Minimize your baking and try to get your shopping done early.

This will give you more time to truly enjoy the holiday season.

DO THINGS YOU ENJOY

Do things that get you into the holiday spirit, whether that is singing Christmas songs, attending Christmas programs, sitting by the fire, telling stories or simply baking.

Getting into the holiday spirit is a great way to combat the stress that you may feel over the holidays and give you a chance to enjoy the season.

There are ways to manage holiday stress, you just must make sure that you set a budget, fit in time for exercise, keep simple and do things you enjoy.

After all, the holidays are a time for traditions, love, and family, not stress.
