Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It helps get you and your family ready for whatever your day has in store and a good breakfast will help energize you throughout the day.

My kids tend to lean towards cereal with milk for their daily breakfasts, but on special occasions, we make a special breakfast menu that has been passed down from my Grandma. My Grandma made a delicious breakfast that was a traditional Mennonite meal – Waffles and White Sauce! If you aren’t from a Mennonite background, you may not know what white sauce for waffles is. The white sauce is a delicious pudding made with milk, sugar, butter, and vanilla that you top the waffles with – add some fruit for more deliciousness!
I now make this delicious recipe for my husband and kids and we continue on with this traditional meal that my Grandma passed down to us. We even love having guests Saturday morning and sharing this fantastic breakfast with them.
While we are lucky to be able to provide our kids with a hearty breakfast, we know that not every child is so lucky. Some children go to school hungry and this can create problems for them at school. Concentrating on an empty stomach is difficult, so these children often fall behind in their school work.
For 20 years, the Breakfast Club of Canada has been making sure that as many kids as possible have access to a healthy breakfast. The Breakfast Club of Canada is a nation-wide organization that serves nearly 33 MILLION breakfasts per year!
Dairyland’s celebrating their 100th anniversary and they’re proud to be partnering with Breakfast Club of Canada to give back to kids across Western Canada. Dairyland has brought back a limited edition logo and design on their 1L and 2L milk cartons to remind us of life’s simple moments.
Until November 6th, every purchase of a Dairyland limited edition 1L or 2L anniversary milk carton contributes to Dairyland providing up to 12,000 breakfasts to kids through the Breakfast Club of Canada. This is a great way for you and your family to give back to those who may not be able to eat breakfast every morning.
