April Showers Bring May Flowers {Lovable Lunch} #LMDconnector

We’ve all heard the saying, April Showers Bring May Flowers…well I sure hope that is the case. I’m dreaming of our local farmers markets opening – but first we need to get this snow melting here in Manitoba.

April Showers Bring May Flowers
I love Spring and Summer because it means there are more opportunities for eating fresh local food, which is always a good feeling for me.

With Spring, the earth starts to come alive. I love using local produce to make my kids lunches more colorful and healthier than ever.

fresh fruit
Use the fresh fruit and veggies that are available to you to make a fresh, fun lunch for your children.

You can make their lunch more appealing by simply laying some of the lunch items on a bed of fresh lettuce or broccoli and adding some bright colored fruit and veggies.

umbrella theme lunch
Dressing up a cucumber with the skin is a great way to get more vitamins into your diet and having a wrap with fresh tomatoes and sprouts amps up the health value.

Since spring has not arrived yet, this April Showers Brings May Flowers lunch is a fun way to get my kids thinking about the fun weather that is hopefully just around the corner!

fun lunch

Top the lunch off with at Yoplait Tube and you have everything to make your child’s lunch complete with your local, fresh fruit and veggies.

Did You Know?

Just 1 in 10 Canadians is getting the recommended daily intake of fruits and vegetables? (Source: Nielsen survey) Scary, eh. If you’re in a rush or someone who doesn’t quite have a green thumb, some Green Giant Veggies are a delicious and easy alternative, 100% grown in Canada and rushed from the field to the freezer to lock in freshness for your family’s dinner!

This looks so good and cute a kid would actually eat it for lunch instead of trading with friends! It reminds me of a bento box.
