The Not So Secret Santa

by Carly,

I am horrible at surprises. I cannot keep anything a secret. I get too excited picturing how the person will react to the gift I am giving to them that I usually just give it to them early. maybe it is to see if I am right in my prediction. Who Knows?
I totally blame my mother for this. Growing up during the month of December and sometimes November. I would wake up and get ready for school. If I was having a bad morning and one of those I don’t look cute days us girls tend to have my mom would look at me with a smile and say “Would you like an early Christmas present?” I of course would say yes and go to school in a new top or jeans and have an awesome day. You think I would be disappointed because I did not get as much on the actual holiday but I never was. That fun bonus day of wearing a new outfit was worth it.

My husband and I decided a few years ago we were not going to get each other gifts. We do gifts for birthdays but not Christmas. It actually has been nice and has alleviated a lot of pressure that shopping during the holidays can bring.
This year I cheated. I found the perfect gift for him and I could not pass it up. I ordered it online and kept picturing his face on Christmas eve surprising him with this gift, expecting nothing in return.
Guess how long I lasted? Two hours, no joke. I did not even have the item. I showed him the website where I bought it. He loved it and actually was excited with anticipation to get something in the mail and to be able to have it before Christmas. So I guess it is not too bad being a not so secret Santa after all.
Are you good at keeping gifts a secret?

I'm good at keeping surprise secrets. My husband is not. He has been itching to tell me what he got me for Christmas. He keeps starting it, then stopping saying I should wait. Then asking if I want a hint. Then not giving it. His waffling is driving me crazy. And I'm fine to wait until Christmas to get the present.

Oh my goodness you're terrible (not in a horrible way though) :) I'm very good at keeping surprises secret and I love when I get them as well. It's so exciting! Glad everything worked out for you and that your hubby loved it. Merry Christmas!

That is HILARIOUS because I do the exact same thing. It's bad! If I don't give it to them, then I keep giving them hints until they guess it. In the end, it spoils the surprise for everyone, but I cant help it!
